·          THE SERIES: This will be the first meeting between Martin and Midland.
·          HOW THEY GOT HERE: Martin finished tied for first in 4-5A and is the top Division I seed from that district. Odessa finished tied for fourth in 3-5A, and is the lower Division I seed.
·          RECORD SETTING SEASON: In addition to making the playoffs for a school-record sixth consecutive year, Martin finished with its best-ever regular season record and can tie the school record for wins in a season (10) with a win Friday night. The Warriors won 10 games last season.
·          AGAINST THE BEST: Martin was 2-1 against this year’s playoff teams, beating Bowie and Lamar and losing to Arlington. Midland was 4-3, beating Amarillo, El Paso Del Valle, Lubbock Monterey and San Angelo Central and losing to Odessa Permian, Abilene and Abilene Cooper.

·          THE SERIES: The series is tied at 1-1, with Lamar winning, 34-28 in overtime in a 2000 regional final at Texas Stadium and Cooper taking a 41-6 Bi-District decision last year at Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium.
·          HOW THEY GOT HERE: Lamar finished tied for first in 4-5A and is the top Division II seed from that district. Abilene Cooper was second in 3-5A, and is the lower Division II seed.
·          IN THE AIR: Lamar quarterback Connor Berry has thrown 17 touchdown passes this season and is now two shy of the school record. The record is 19, set by Will Boyette last year.
·          AGAINST THE BEST: Lamar was 2-3 against this year’s playoff teams, beating Arlington and Bowie, and losing to Mansfield Timberview, Flower Mound Marcus and Martin. Abilene Cooper was 3-3, beating San Angelo Central, Odessa Permian and Midland and losing to Wichita Falls Rider, Austin Westlake and Abilene.

·          THE SERIES: Abilene leads the series, winning the only meeting, 31-28, in last year’s Bi-District game at Maverick Stadium.
·          HOW THEY GOT HERE: Arlington tied for third in 4-5A, and is the lower Division II seed from that district. Abilene was the district champion in 3-5A, and is the top Division II seed.
·          RUSH HOUR: Last week, Arlington High’s Tavarrean Dickerson became the fourth player in Arlington ISD history to surpass 4,000 career rushing yards. Dickerson, who is the Colts’ all-time leading rusher, currently has 4,198 yards and needs 76 more to move past former Lamar standout Shawn Walters for third place on the AISD career list.
·          AGAINST THE BEST: Arlington High was 2-3 against this year’s playoff teams, beating Plano East and Martin and losing to Mansfield Timberview, Lamar and Bowie. Abilene was 4-3, beating Tulsa Booker T. Washington (4-5, entering Oklahoma’s Class 5A playoffs this week), Midland, Abilene Cooper and Odessa Permian and losing to Euless Trinity, Harlingen and Longview.

·          AGAINST THE BEST: Bowie was 2-3 against this year’s playoff teams, beating New Orleans Edna Karr (7-3, entering the Louisiana Class 4A playoffs this week) and Arlington and losing to Dallas Skyline, Martin and Lamar. Odessa Permian was 4-4 against this year’s playoff teams, beating Bethel (8-2, entering the Washington Class 4A playoffs), Amarillo Tascosa, Lubbock Monterey and Midland, while losing to Smithson Valley, Broken Arrow (9-1, entering the Oklahoma Class 6A playoffs), Abilene Cooper and Abilene.
